Inclusion

Our policy is intrinsically supportive of our mission statement and aims.

Equal opportunities principles:

Discrimination on the basis of religion, colour, culture, origin, gender, or physical disability is unacceptable in our school

All children and staff will endeavour to further this objective by personally contributing towards a happy and caring environment and by showing respect and appreciation for each other as individuals

The primary objective of the academy is, therefore, to educate, develop and prepare all our children for their future lives.

Racial Harassment

Following The Stephen Lawrence Inquiry the government has accepted one of the key recommendations in terms of education which is that all schools should adopt a specific strategy to prevent racist incidents and all incidents should be monitored and reported to parents/carers, governors and the Local Authority.

The Springwell Learning Community has adopted the L.A. practices for dealing with incidents of racial harassment

Educational Visits

Educational visits are arranged to complement the academy curriculum. The academy recognises the value of off site visits to children as enrichment for their studies and to their personal and social development.

Such visits can strengthen a child’s sense of belonging to the academy and can help to generate positive relationships with their teachers and peers.

The procedures for organising academy visits are scrupulously adhered to.

Collective Worship

There are regular acts of worship, whether in class, key stage or whole academy assembly.

Parents/carers have the right to withdraw their child from collective worship. Arrangements are made for children who are withdrawn to be provided with appropriate class work and supervised by a member of staff.
